TARBA IVAN KONSTANTINOVICH

He was born on 21 March 1921 in the village of Beslakhuba, Ochamchir district, Abkhazian ASSR.
He attended Baslahu Primary School and also Ochamchira Secondary Boarding School.
In 1947 he graduated from the Sukhumi Pedagogical Institute named after A. M. Gorky, Russian Language and Literature Department of the Faculty of Philology.
He worked in the editorial office of the newspaper «Apsny Kapsh» («Red Abkhazia»).
He was chairman of the Writers' Union of Abkhazia.
In 1954-1958, he was the secretary of the Abkhaz Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Georgia, and was also elected a deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.
From 1979 he was secretary of the Abkhaz Regional Council of Trade Unions. He started writing poetry early on.
He was in print from 1937.

He passed away on 21 January 1994 after a long illness.
