He's an Abkhazian poet.
He was born on 13 February 1950 in the village of Aatsy in the Gudauta district of the ASSR.
He graduated from Seaside High School.
He then specialised as a turner at the Sukhumi State Vocational Technical School.
From 1968 he began to publish regularly in magazines and newspapers.
In 1972, he entered the Philological Faculty of the A.M. Gorky Sukhumi State Pedagogical Institute, but he did not graduate from it.
In 1985-1987 in Moscow he graduated from the two-year Higher Literature Courses at the A.M. Gorky Literary Institute.
In 1970-1975, he worked as a librarian at the «Psyrdzkha» tourist centre in Novy Afon town.
In 1973, the poet's first collection of poems was published.
