LASURIA MUSHNI TAEVICH

He's an Abkhazian poet.
He was born in 1938 in the village of Kutol, Ochamchira district, Abkhazian SSR.
He graduated from the Kutol eight-year school in 1953.
In 1953-1957 he studied at the Sukhumi State Pedagogical School.
In 1957-1960 he was a student at the Sukhumi State Pedagogical Institute named after A. M. Gorky, at the Abkhazian department of the Philological Faculty.
Between 1960 and 1965 he studied at the Gorky Literary Institute in Moscow. 
In 1970-1974 he was a postgraduate student at the Gorky Institute of World Literature of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
In 1965-1967 he was a literary associate of the newspaper «Apsny Kapsh» («Red Abkhazia»).
From 1967-1970, he became head of the poetry, criticism and journalism department of the editorial board of the magazine «Alashara» («Light»). 
In 1974, he defended his Ph.D. thesis at the IMLI of the USSR Academy of Sciences. 
Since 1974, he has been a researcher at the D.I. Gulia Institute of Language, Literature and History of Abkhazia. D.I. Gulia.
He served as editor-in-chief of «Alashara» Publishing House from 1974-1978.
In 1979-1986 he was the Chairman of the Board of the Union of Writers of the Abkhaz ASSR.
Since 2003 he has been the President of the Abkhaz Writers' Association.
