GULIA GEORGY DMITRIEVICH
14.03.1913 — 26.11.1989

He was born in 1913 into the family of Abkhaz writer Dmitry Iosifovich Gulia. 
In 1929, he graduated from the Sukhumi secondary school and entered the Transcaucasian Institute of Railway Engineers in Tbilisi. 
In 1935, he completed his studies and returned to Sukhumi. For some time, he worked in his field and participated in the construction of the Black Sea railway (Dranda-Agudzera section). 
In 1937, he began working as the deputy editor of the republican youth newspaper "Komsomolets Abkhazia". 
In 1939, he was appointed head of the Department of Arts at the Council of People's Commissars of the Abkhazian ASSR. 
In 1948, G. Gulia moved to Moscow and started working for the "Literaturnaya Gazeta" as a member of the editorial board. His early works are based on observations of people's lives in Abkhazia. 
In his later works, Gulia turns to historical and historico-biographical genres, as well as to humanism, addressing acute human issues.
