BEIGUAA OMAR BAYRAMOVICH

He is a poet, publicist, folklorist, and Caucasian historian. 
He was born on 1 July 1901 in the village of Efteni Haci, Turkey. 
His ancestors migrated to Turkey from Abzhakva village of Sukhumi district. 
He was trained as a ‘forestry engineer’ and worked in his speciality throughout Turkey. 
But nevertheless, he spent his life researching the Abkhaz language, folklore, and history. 
He became a laureate of the D. I. Gulia State Prize of Abkhazia. D. I. Gulia. 
He is the author of a number of major studies on the ethno-cultural history of the Abkhaz people, Adygs (Circassians) and other mountain peoples of the Caucasus. These works are published mainly in Turkish. 
Beyguaa's work «Caucasian Sources on the Initial Period of the Origin of Human Civilisation», in 2 volumes (Istanbul, 1985-1986; Turkish), should be considered a significant contribution to Caucasian studies. This work explores issues of history, ethnogenesis, language and mythology, and demography of the Abkhaz and other peoples of the Caucasus. The book «Is Abkhazian Mythology the Most Ancient?» (Istanbul, 1971; Turkish). He also published an illustrative Abkhazian calendar (1968), prepared for publication the Abkhazian Etymological Dictionary (in 3 volumes), «Abkhazian Grammar».
ВIn 2013, the Omar Beigua Museum of Foreign Abkhaz History was opened in Sukhum on the initiative of the State Committee on Repatriation. 
Omar Beyguaa passed away in 2001 and is buried in Istanbul, where he lived all his life.
