
ANKVAB VLADIMIR PLATONOVICH (JISINOVICH)

He was born on 23 February 1928 in the village of Huap, Gudauta district, Abkhazian SSR.
Vladimir Ankvab is an Abkhazian fiction writer, poet, literary critic and public figure.
Before becoming a famous poet, he worked as a shepherd, grape grower, tobacco grower, bulk hauler, and explosionist.
He began to publish since 1953, the newspaper Apsny Kapsh ("Red Abkhazia") published his first poems.
In 1954, he entered the A.M. Gorky State Pedagogical Institute in Sukhumi. A.M. Gorky.
In 1956-1961. - Student at the A. M. Gorky Literary Institute in Moscow.
In 1968-1970. - Postgraduate student at the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute.
In 1970 he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Philological Sciences on the prose of Mikhail Lakkerbai and the Abkhazian novel.
Worked as a teacher of Abkhazian literature, associate professor.
From 1975 he headed the Department of Abkhazian Literature at the A. M. Gorky Sukhumi State Pedagogical Institute (then A. M. Gorky Abkhazian State University).
Member of the USSR Writers' Union.
He lived in Sukhum.
He died on 13 October 1987 in Moscow.
