
ADJBA TAIF SHAADOVICH

He was born on 11 March 1939 in a large family of many children Shaadat Ajba in the village of Achandara, Gudauta district.
In 1962, Taif Adjba became a student of the philological faculty of the Sukhumi Pedagogical Institute (foreign languages department - ed.). In the same year, his poem ‘Syԥasadgyil’ (My Motherland) appeared on the pages of the literary magazine ‘Alashara’, and from that moment the author's way to the readers began.
After graduation, the poet in different years worked in the editorial office of the newspaper ‘Aԥsni ҟaԥsh’, book publishing house ‘Alashara’, magazine ‘School and Life’, was a literary consultant in the Union of Writers of Abkhazia.
In 1983-1985, Taif Ajba studied at higher literary courses. These were the years of acquaintance and extensive dialogue with prominent literary figures in Russia. At the same time the publishing house ‘Soviet Writer’ published another collection of Ajba's poems under the title ‘Second Life’.
Taif Ajba is the author of more than ten lyric collections. The author's first poetry collection ‘Poems’ was published in 1968. In 1979, a single volume of his selected works ‘Blessing’ was published, which included the best poems and poems of different years.
Many of his lyrical poems have been set to music. His children's poems and poems are considered among the best in Abkhazian literature. Taif Ajba has translated into Abkhazian the immortal works of Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, Fyodor Tyutchev, Alexander Blok and other Russian poets.
Taif Ajba was detained by Georgian guards solely on the basis of his ethnic origin.
Ajba was last seen on 9 October 1992.
In parting, he asked his wife for only one thing: to preserve his personal archive, his last diary entries.
He was taken to an unknown location.
