
AHUBA JUMA VISSARIONOVICH

Famous Abkhaz writer, publicist, author of novels, novellas, collections of stories and fairy tales for children, translator of classical literature into his native language.
Born on 12 March 1937 in the village of Atara, Ochamchirsky district, Abkhazian ASSR.
He worked as a correspondent in the editorial office of the newspaper Sovetskaya Abkhazia, where he published articles on Abkhazian culture, literature and theatre. He was editor-in-chief of «Apsny Akazara» magazine.
He has published more than 25 books of prose and journalistic works in Abkhazian and Russian, translated into Abkhazian stories by London, Hemingway, Chekhov, Iskander and others. A number of his works have been translated into Japanese, English, Polish, Russian and other languages.
Akhuba is a public figure, a member of the Union of Writers and the Union of Journalists of the USSR, a member of the Union of Writers, the Union of Journalists of Abkhazia, a holder of the Order «Akhdz-apsha», a laureate of the D. Gulia State Prize, the prize of the magazine «Friendship of Peoples».
Died on 13 January 2019 in Sukhum, Abkhazia in the 82nd year of his life.
